Stariway to Knowledge by Marcus Love

Stairway to Knowledge

By
Marcus A. Love

Two men set out to climb the Stairway to Knowledge

The first

An ambitious man

Began his climb

Unfortunately his stairs were run down and out of date

He didn’t have any good programs at his school

He stumbled

He fell

Struggling to pull his life together

He slowly tried to climb the stairs

But they where too steep for a man in his condition

He had to drop out
It was too hard

His family needed the money

He convinced himself that this was the truth

But really

He wasn’t ready for the journey

A few years to prepare would have helped-

His climb on the Stairway to Knowledge.

The first man was forced into the workforce

No safety net

He found a low income job

His parents wouldn’t have to support him any longer

Empty excuses

At his job

He flipped many a burger

And one day his hopes came through

His manager had moved up the corporate ladder

He then worked hard

He then worked harder

And yet nothing seemed to work

At last he asked his boss

Why?

“We are looking for a more qualified person”

Twas the response

The Shame

The Anger

A simple job was beyond his grasp

All due to fate

His school wasn’t fit

For one

Such as he

To complete the Stairway to Knowledge

He moved

To Delaware

He wouldn’t force his son into a life like his own

Once his boy came of age, the year was 2015

He was going to begin his climb- Ready or not…

Not

Never the less he climbed

And to his dad’s joy

These steps where refortified

Polished Smooth by years of work

The lad’s school was designed to fit the needs of all

For those plagued by ADD

Movement was integrated into their daily climb

For this, the boy was glad

For those without means to do fun activities

Sports and Hobbies filled the day
For this, the boy was happy

All this made the boy’s climb on the Stairway to Knowledge better

At the son’s school

Private companies created old visions into new beginnings
T

eachers were paid for effectiveness

Motivating the kids

This motivation transfered outside of class

Making them eager to learn
Making the teachers eager to teach

The programs allowed technology to assist those on the Stairway to Knowledge
The Stairway to Knowledge grew tall

Reaching new heights

Lifting up smarter kids

Filling good jobs that had long been vacant

A tear fell from the man’s cheek

For his boy was not a boy
An artist
A scholar

Both in One

One in Both

Neither inferior to the other

Both allowed to climb the stairs without being over looked

Stepped on

Smothered as before

As time passed

As it has always

Other schools refined their stairs

Schools California

New Mexico

Nevada

They took sanders to their stairs

Smoothing what had once been inadequate

They drove nails into their stairs

Strengthening the foundation laid before the students

They polished their stairs

Provided an environment to accelerate learning

Making things safe

All this to provide a better tomorrow

All this to teach the youth of America

Two men set out to climb the Stairway to Knowledge

The latter

An ambitious boy

Began his climb

Fortunately his stairs were reformed and up to date

He had many good programs at his school

He created

He excelled

Struggling to make himself better

He raced through each stair

For they were suited to a boy in his condition

He had to go to college

His scholarship said so

But…

But…

But nothing

And this was the truth

He was ready for the journey

The years of preparation had helped-

His climb on the Stairway to Knowledge
